Advent Devotional - Day 20

DECEMBER 20 – Matthew 2: 9-10
By: Michael Strickland-Dobbs

9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

When the magi left Herod, they saw the star placed to guide them and they were filled with joy. The star placed there as a guide and a sign. God still places signs for us to guide us, some brilliant, some subtle, none the less still there. As the wise men journeyed to Bethlehem, we too must follow our path to Christ to find true joy. Our road to heaven was laid out that evening long ago. We know the way. We just have to follow the star and be aware of the signs.

Dear Father, show us the way. Help us to find the true joy you provide, allowing us to follow your direction. May your star shine bright to guide us and help us to see it. Amen.
